I’ve Done This So Many Times!!!

Has this happened to you? You get this great idea, you’re super excited, you tell someone you trust and BAM…

I was super excited to tell my dad about my idea to start helping people clean up their credit reports. I read an article in a magazine about how important it is to have good credit if you want to start a business. I knew how to read credit reports, so ding ding ding the idea came to me that I can help people fix their credit reports. With corrected reports they could get better loan approvals.

Naturally I told my dad the great news and he quickly shut me down. He told me to go to college and (I already quit because college wasn’t my thing). get a degree, get a good job, etc etc. This is what I was told instead of my idea being something worthwhile to pursue.

I’m glad I didn’t listen, because I started my business and I’ve been helping people since 1992.

When you tell someone about your idea or ideas, make sure you talk to someone that is qualified to offer advice. Someone with achievements that he or she has performed that qualify them to set up limitations for you.

What I have discovered is that people who offer advice freely are the same people that discourage you from doing or trying anything that they don’t understand.

People that are busy generally don’t tell you how to live your life. Now people who don’t try or gave up because they failed to pursue a dream and quit when it became too difficult, now those people will easily without even thinking will tell how your idea is no good. They will tell you all the negative maybe’s as if those were real. They never share how it’s possible, only how it’s impossible.

Failures or mediocre people who don’t try because of fear, they have all the time in the world to give you advice on how things won’t work because they “love you”. Because they are looking out for you. Because they don’t want you to get hurt.

What really gets me upset is that secretly negative people delight in seeing you fail or give up. They will quickly also say “I told you so” when you are going through a hard time.

Take a second look at who you share your ideas with. Look at their achievements, at their successes or their accomplishments. More than likely, they haven’t done much.

Once you pay attention to that you will look for people who have succeeded in the area you are trying to grow up in. They are optimistic and will share with you what you can do differently so that your idea becomes successful.

They have a positive mindset and are willing to share with you because they have a desire for success. They learned to block out the negative Nancy’s and listen to those who are encouraging, supporting, and willing and able to help.
